WHAT

The Year of the Monkey is not yet over but don’t forget to save the date for the 2017 Lunar New Year Celebration! Over the last few years, the Lunar New Year Celebration is the largest event of its kind in the region and showcases diversity, richness and culture of the Asian community. The collaboration with other neighborhood businesses/organizations has helped draw thousands of visitors from throughout the region for a day of festivities. The celebration include traditional dragon and lion dances, Japanese Taiko Drumming, martial arts and other cultural performances on the Lion Stage. Combined with arts, crafts and a variety of family friendly activities there is something for everyone.

Don’t forget the return of the neighborhood’s Annual $3 Food Walk presented by Delta Air Lines!

ANNUAL $3 FOOD WALK Presented by DELTA AIR LINES

We celebrated the year of the monkey by treating your taste buds to a trip around the world at the Annual Lunar New Year $3 Food Walk presented by Delta Air Lines!  Restaurants across the Chinatown-ID has offered a variety of $3 tastes from China, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and beyond!  Participants sampled & collected stamps from FIVE (5) or more restaurants and became eligible to enter a drawing for a GRAND PRIZE of TWO INTERNATIONAL ROUND-TRIP ON DELTA AIR LINES!  Attendees simply returned the stamp card by 4:00 p.m. at the Information Booth at the Lunar New Year Celebration for a chance at the prize!

6th ANNUAL CHILDREN’S PARADE & COSTUME CONTEST held by NW ASIAN WEEKLY

Lots of children and friends entered into our sixth annual Children’s Parade Contest presented by NW Asian Weekly where they showed off their best cultural New Year’s outfit on stage! Parents were welcome to accompany their children on stage. Judges announced winners and prizes that same day! You can pre-register by downloading the application competition.
