About the Program
The CIDBIA Ambassador Program is a community-led public safety initiative addressing the Chinatown- International District’s urgent needs. Ambassadors provide daily, visible support to businesses, residents, and visitors - fostering a safer, more welcoming neighborhood through de-escalation, outreach, and hospitality. The program launched on June 1, 2025.
Program Details
CIDBIA Ambassadors are trained in de-escalation and are here to assist the Chinatown-International District community and neighborhood visitors.
Ambassadors are in the neighborhood every day from 2pm-10pm and wear bright yellow vests.

When to Call an Ambassador
- You need help relocating someone sleeping in a doorway or trespassing on property
- You feel unsafe or uncomfortable about a situation
- A person may need help (shelter, food, medical attention)
- You’re unsure how to safely handle a situation
- De-escalation of conflict is needed

❌ Don’t yell or insult anyone on the street
❌ Don’t physically confront or threaten anyone
❌ Don’t escalate a situation—call for help instead

Working with the Ambassadors helps everyone—especially your customers and staff.

Ambassadors are not police. In case of an active emergency, please call 911. Report crime to SPD.

Ambassadors do not carry weapons

Ambassadors cannot physically remove people
