About CIDBIA
The Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA) enhances and promotes the Chinatown-International District (C-ID) as a welcoming, clean, and vibrant neighborhood. The CIDBIA supports sanitation initiatives, neighborhood coordination, cultural and economic advocacy, and community events. Our mission is to create a thriving business district that celebrates the cultural and historic significance of the neighborhood while addressing contemporary challenges.
The CIDBIA is governed by an 11-member Board of Directors and is primarily funded through grants and partially supported by a self-imposed assessment on local businesses and property owners, supplemented by sponsorships and donations. With a $1 million operating budget, CIDBIA supports programs such as business district cleaning, community coordination, marketing and events, and business development.
Position Summary
The CIDBIA seeks a motivated, strategic, and community-oriented leader to serve as its Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will lead efforts to enhance the C-ID, navigating the organization through a critical time of economic recovery and organizational growth.
The Executive Director will work closely with ratepayers, businesses, residents, and community stakeholders to address neighborhood challenges, including economic recovery, sanitation, and fostering cultural and community connections. They will also play a key role in updating and expanding CIDBIA’s funding framework to meet the evolving needs of the district.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Vision: Guide the organization with strategic direction and operational leadership to achieve CIDBIA’s mission and goals.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with ratepayers, businesses, residents, and government officials. Establish trust and open communication with diverse community members.

Operational Management: Oversee CIDBIA’s programs and services, including sanitation coordination, cultural events, marketing, and advocacy efforts.

Funding Development: Lead efforts to revise and expand CIDBIA’s funding framework, ensuring financial sustainability.

Advocacy and Collaboration: Partner with city officials, community organizations, and other stakeholders to address neighborhood challenges and promote the district’s cultural and economic vitality.

Team Development: Provide leadership to CIDBIA staff, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring:

A strong understanding of the Chinatown-International District’s history, cultures, and community dynamics.

At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, neighborhood revitalization, business improvement areas, or equivalent roles.

Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and navigate complex political and cultural environments.

Experience managing budgets and ensuring organizational sustainability.

Strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills.

A passion for cultural preservation and community engagement.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $130,000 to $160,000
